Multiple Choice
10 minutes
Covered skills
- Fundamentals & symbology
- Datum referencing
- Types of geometric tolerances
This GD&T test evaluates a candidate’s ability to understand drawings using the language of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. It evaluates the applicant's knowledge of GD&T principles, concepts, and practices with the current ASME Y14.5 Standards.
The Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) language comprises symbols and standards that have been developed and are used by both engineers and manufacturers in order to describe a product and easily communicate among the different people and entities working together to bring something into production. This screening test follows the rules of GD&T as described in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Y14.5.
The test assesses candidates' knowledge and practical skills in:
- Using the principles, concepts, and best practices of GD&T
- The fundamentals and symbology of GD&T
- Datum referencing
- Different types of geometric tolerances
- Understanding of datums and features
- GD&T symbols
- The feature control frame
- Material condition modifiers
Candidates who perform well on this test have not only a strong GD&T knowledge but also the experience needed to apply that knowledge in practical work-related situations. These candidates can read designs correctly, interpret and communicate product needs accurately, and make decisions that move production forward.
